Stock market panics are nothing new and there are lessons to be learned. Words like stock market panic, bank runs, bailouts, greedy bankers, financial contagion, short selling, illiquidity and credit crises are nothing new to the stock market.

Stock market panics come and go, but today they seem to come rather rapidly and can fade just as quickly.

If you think the 2000s have been dismal, you should have seen the turbulent 1970s, one political storm after another, recession and inflation that made grown-ups cry. 

The 1970s saw three different presidents and four vice presidents and the worst economic recession since the Great Depression. It is always good to know history and that this type of economy and these types of political problems existed before. Here is that history.
